Happy Hallowinnie!

September 30, 2008

Hi everybody! Can you believe it is October already? Soon it will be All Hallow’s Eve, the night when all the little bulldogs dress in costume and go door-to-door performing tricks for treats. Here is last year’s photo of Winston (Cookie’s adopted uncle) to get you in the mood for the holiday. As you can see, Winston is suitably festooned as royalty since he is, after all, King of his Castle. He looks pretty spectacular, but not to worry… Cookie’s outfit this year will not disappoint!

Tip-toe, through the tulips

September 29, 2008

It is not tulip season, but we took Cookie to the Old Dutch Windmill in Golden Gate Park on Sunday morning anyway. I snapped this precious picture of Our Baby who is as radiant as any of the flowers in bloom. She was quite a hit among the groups of tourists who asked to take her photograph. Tim looked like a handler at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show as he escorted Cookie around the circular gardens. It was a beautiful day to brunch with friends and frolic in the park.

The look of love is in your eyes

September 27, 2008

A look your smile can’t disguise! I think this is a very artful picture that Tim captured on his cell phone. The colors of the tile and bathtub mirror Cookie’s peaches and cream complexion. The composition directs the viewer right to Cookie’s soulful eyes.  It’s almost as if Our Girl has been interrupted performing her morning toilette. For whom is she getting all gussied up? What is she thinking at this moment? Have we surprised her or did she intend for us to find her…?

Actually, we are having some home improvements done on the back yard. This entails lots of loud noises like jackhammers and saws which just send Cookie to the moon. Or, rather, as we see here, to the bathroom in order to find a peaceful sanctuary. I will let you know if next time we find her lounging in the bubble bath with a glass of chablis. It’s always a surprise with Miss Cooks!

Apple Dumpling Gang

September 27, 2008

Gang of one with mighty jaws of steel and mighty jowls of peels. Apple peels, that is. Cookie’s apple pickin’ obsession is still going on. Every day she is so excited to go on her walks. She does her business (good girl) and then makes a beeline towards the apple tree.  She does this every single time we go outside. But, as the saying goes, an apple a day keeps the doctor away.

Thus, we are limiting her to one tiny apple per day. Otherwise, her gaseous state that ensues the apple binge is far too much for even the most stoic of olfactory senses. We found this out the hard way around midnight when, after a three apple day, Cookie was emitting such audible and offensive toots that her Daddy elected to take his pillow downstairs to sleep on the couch. But that didn’t hurt her feelings. She just trotted downstairs and jumped on the couch landing on his abdomen as he was sleeping. The picture to the right shows Cookie’s dogged determination in swiftly toting her apple (tucked into left jowl) home to savor on the front lawn.

Cookie and the Apple

September 15, 2008

Cookie’s new hobby is to pick a low-hanging apple off of our neighbor’s tree and carry it tucked under her jowl. The series of pictures above shows what happened to the apple after she proudly brought it home.

Poopdeck Puppy

September 12, 2008

We try to take Cookie everywhere we can which is surprisingly, a lot of places these days. So far she has been to restaurants (with patio seating), hotels, and a few pubs. But recently, when Tim and I went to check out a reception site for our wedding aboard the Hornblower yachts, Cookie got to come as well. We saw three yachts that day and Cookie just hopped on board each one as if she were an old seafaring dog. In the picture above, she is trying to pull Tim towards the galley which is the (big shocker) kitchen area of a ship. Ahoy ye mateys!

She’s a lady! Whoa, whoa, whoa, she’s a lady!

Last Saturday, before we went to Arizona, we were having a heat wave (high 80’s). Cookie was fit to be tied! We spent the day indoors but at one point, I didn’t hear the click-clack of Cookie’s toenails on the hardwood floor as she followed me about. I looked around, but she wasn’t to be found. So I went upstairs and this is what I saw: Our Girl flopped over in her bed with her legs all akimbo in the air. I guess it was just too hot and she needed to air out her inner thighs. A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. Stay cool, Cookie!

The Painted Desert

September 10, 2008
We at Cookie Crumbs are back from hiatus to fondly recall our adventures in the beautiful desert town that is Chandler, Arizona. A few of Cookie’s favorite things about visiting Arizona were:
lounging in the backyard,
sipping from the fountain,
begging for snacks in the kitchen,
and threatening to defect to Grandma and Grandpa’s!
Thanks Larry G. and Brigitte for an awesome weekend! We love you.
