What does barbeque have to do with Cookie? Nothing. Except this cute picture of her chomping down on a great new Nylabone toy I found at PETCO. It looks and smells like real BBQ baby back ribs, but it is actually durable plastic (glow in the dark plastic)! A good thing because, as most of you know, Cookie is allergic to beef and pork among other things. I picked this up as a souvenir for Ms. Cooks on our way back from the Bay Area Barbeque Cook Off and Music Festival. No, she was not able to attend, but she was there in spirit. I kept remarking to Tim, “Cookie would love this!” And how!

It was a very hot day in Pleasanton, home of the Alameda County Fairgrounds. All the better to drink “lite” beer, lounge around and kill a few hours people watching.
There was so much barbeque from which to choose. I chose a BBQ sausage sandwich dinner (complete with slaw, cornbread and beans) from the Blazin’ Bronco stand. They had the most trophies. Tim ordered the pulled pork also from Blazin’. I couldn’t order the pork because the shape of a pig reminds me of the shape of Cookie. We ate, drank and listened to some bad music from the sound stage. Unfortunately, we missed the cooking demonstration by Rick Browne, renowned author, photographer, and BBQ “pitmaster”. I liked his festive picture I found on the internet.
His enthusiasm for barbeque is unbridled! In fact, in addition to all of his hobbies, he also holds an honorary Doctorate of Barbeque Philosophy degree. I don’t know what this means, but I love it! And so does Cookie, pictured at right, who is trying to cop his pitmaster style, well kind of.
